For anyone asking, “What is the ultimate meaning of my life?” or those who find themselves wandering about in a wilderness of faith or even those who think they have it all together, the story of Christ’s “Return of the Prodigal” will stimulate you to reflect and perhaps make a mid-course correction or two in your spiritual journey. Andy DeJong will lead a fall class for adults on Sunday mornings that will use a Biblical text (Luke 15: 11-32), a painting (Rembrandt’s “The Return of the Prodigal Son”), and a short book by Henri Nouwen entitled, The Return of the Prodigal Son. Discover the themes of homecoming, affirmation, correction, and reconciliation and be challenged to love like the father and be loved like the son or daughter that you are.
Our conversations will begin on September 12 and run until October 24, meeting at 10:15–11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary, where the class will also be live-streamed for those who choose to participate from home. A limited number of copies of Nouwen’s book are available from the church for $10. Contact the church office to purchase one.
